PLI's curriculum emphasizes meaningful learning through experience and promotes better transfer than static learning; thatr is, the more thoroughly something is engaged in via direct hands-on experience, the more likely it is to be transferred to a new situation. Numerous and varied examples and opportunities increase the extent to which knowledge and skills may be applied in new situations. Individuals must see the similarities between the leadership they are immersed in and situations that happen during these experiences; consequently learning occurs regarding the relationship to circumstances that have occurred in other aspects of life. It is helpful if individuals can identify opportunities to use new knowledge by realistically comparing a structured experience with specific past and possible future conditions in their lives. |
